The Carli Suspension Trophy Hitch (CS-FHITCH-1723) is a heavy-duty solution for Ford F250/F350 owners needing to securely store a 38" spare tire in the factory location. Originally developed out of necessity when the Carli team found it difficult to fit larger tires under the bed of their 2017 Super Duty, this innovative hitch addresses the shortcomings of the factory setup. In addition, the stock winch cable couldn't withstand the stress, leading to failures in demanding off-road conditions. Carli sought a solution that combined strength, reliability, and ease of use, and the Trophy Hitch was born.
Designed to accommodate larger spare tires without sacrificing performance, the Trophy Hitch utilizes 3/16" and 1/4" Cold-Rolled American Steel and is rated for a 16,000lb weight capacity. The hitch integrates with the factory spare tire winch, adding a custom 3-way ratchet strap and three heavy-duty D-rings to securely hold the tire once it's raised into place. The system eliminates the need for the factory winch cable and offers enhanced stability for off-road use.
Tested rigorously to SAE J684 standards, the Trophy Hitch exceeded expectations, passing a 16,000lb GVWR test with flying colors. For those running larger tires like a 38" spare, the Trophy Hitch allows for easy installation, though exhaust modification may be necessary to accommodate the tire. The hitch uses a 3" receiver and requires a 5/8" x 4" hitch pin.
